Mathew Gallagher established a $1.8 Billion Company Using AI Tools.

Can you believe if I tell you a 41 years Dad, working from his house in Los Angeles with $20,000 and couple of months of hard work and then build a company that made $401 million in its first year. And now he is heading toward $1.8 Billion? His secret wasn’t investors, a fancy office or a big team. It was AI.
What Is Medvi?
Medvi is a company. In words it connects people with doctors online and sells weight-loss medications. Like the kind you may have heard called Ozempic or semaglutide. At $179 per month. No clinic visits. No long waits. Just a clean website, a process and fast delivery.
The market was already there. Millions of people wanted access to weight-loss medication. Found it expensive and complicated. Matthew spotted the gap. Instead of building everything from scratch he was smart about it. He connected existing platforms together using AI and built a consumer brand on top. Medvi used AI to handle tasks.
BEFORE MEDVI. THE LESSON
Matthew ran Watch Gang, a watch subscription startup with 60 employees. Despite the team the company never turned a profit. He later said it clearly: more people meant costs and slower decisions. That failure became his valuable lesson. Matthew learned that having many employees can be costly and slow down decision-making.
2024. THE IDEA
Matthew saw the explosion of interest in weight-loss drugs and noticed a gap. People wanted affordable easy access. He decided to build a company around this. This time he would build it completely differently: lean AI-first and with almost no employees.

MID 2024. BUILDING WITH AI (TWO MONTHS)
From his house in LA with $20,000 and more than a dozen AI tools Matthew built the company. ChatGPT, Claude and Grok wrote the code. Midjourney and Runway created the ad images and videos. ElevenLabs powered AI voice tools for customer communication. Custom AI agents glued all his software systems together.
MONTH 1. 300 Customers at Start
Medvi. Booked 300 clients in its first month. Of hiring a sales team AI handled customer queries. Of hiring designers AI made the ads. It worked.
MONTH 2. Then hunt next 1,000 MORE CUSTOMERS
They jumped doubled. Matthew realized he needed one being to help. Not for operations but for communication. He called his brother Elliot in April 2025.
At the last of 2025. Their revenue is $401 MILLION
Medvi their startup closed their very first revenue of $401 million in sales 250,000 happy customers and a 16% net profit margin. Far better than competitors like Hims, which posted 5.5%. Two people. No VC money. No office.

2026. ON TRACK FOR $1.8 BILLION
The New York Times reported Medvis story in April 2026 calling it a moment in business history. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI said Matthew appeared to have won a bet he’d made with tech CEOs about when a solo billion-dollar company would appear. He said he’d “like to meet the guy.”
The AI Tools That Built a Billion-Dollar Company
Here’s something most articles miss. Matthew didn’t use one magical AI tool. He used many each doing a job. Think of it like hiring a department but paying almost nothing.
Code & Writing:
ChatGPT, Claude, Grok
Ads & Visuals:
Midjourney, Runway
Voice & Support:
ElevenLabs
Doctors Network:
CareValidate
Pharmacy & Shipping:
OpenLoop Health
Legal & Accounting:
LegalZoom + AI tools
His important mindset? Don’t build what already exists. Plug into it. Doctors, prescriptions, shipping. All handled by existing platforms via API. He only built what no one else had built: a brand, a smart marketing engine and an AI-powered customer experience.
One honest note
Matthew admits the journey isn’t all glamorous. He works every waking hour. He once went hiking. Came back to zero orders because of a small website change. He says the biggest unexpected cost of building this way is loneliness. No colleagues to celebrate with, no team culture, no one to brainstorm over coffee with. Hes even considered hiring people just because of how isolating it feels.

PART TWO
How You Can Use AI in Your Daily Life and Business. Starting Today
Matthews story is inspiring.. What does it mean for you practically? You don’t need to build a billion-dollar company. You just need to start making AI work for you. One task at a time.
Let AI Write For You
Emails, product descriptions, social media captions, blog posts, proposals. AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude can draft all of these in seconds. You review, tweak and send. What used to take an hour takes five minutes.
Let AI Handle Customer Questions
If you sell anything online an AI chatbot can answer questions around the clock. Tools like Tidio, Intercom or even a custom GPT can be set up without coding knowledge. Your customers get replies. You sleep better.
Let AI Analyse Your Numbers
Upload your sales data or business reports to an AI tool. Simply ask: “Whats selling the most?” What should I cut?” You don’t need an analyst. You need curiosity and a good question.

Let AI Create Your Marketing
Midjourney creates images. Runway creates videos. Canvas AI makes graphics. ElevenLabs can make a voiceover from your typed script. A full marketing department, available for a few dollars a month.
Let AI Run Your Schedule
Tools like Notion AI, Motion and Reclaim AI can organise your calendar prioritise your tasks and even block time automatically based on your goals. Matthew even built an AI clone of his voice to handle scheduling calls.
PART THREE
How to Build a Billion-Dollar Company Using AI. The Simple Blueprint
You don’t have to copy Medvi. You can absolutely copy the thinking behind it. Here is the framework, broken down simply.
Find a problem people are already paying to solve
Matthew didn’t invent the weight-loss market. He found a gap. People wanted the medication. Found it hard and expensive to access. Your billion-dollar idea is probably hiding inside an existing market with an experience.

Don’t build what already exists. Plug into it
Matthew used CareValidate for doctors and OpenLoop for pharmacy. He didn’t reinvent those. He built the unique layer. The brand and the customer experience. Ask yourself: what can I borrow, connect or license of building from scratch?
Treat every business function as a service, not a hire
Legal? Use. An AI tool first. Marketing? A contracted. Ai-generated content. Accounting? AI tools, an accountant when needed. This keeps your costs near zero while you’re proving the idea works.
Use AI to do the work so you can focus on the irreplaceable work
AI writes, designs, analyses and supports. You make the calls. The vision, the brand, the relationships, the product direction. That’s where the real business value lives and only a human can provide it.
Start before you’re fully ready
Matthew launched in two months with $20,000. He didn’t wait for a product. He waited enough to be good enough then improved as he grew. Speed beats perfection in the days.

Make data your daily habit
Every decision Matthew made was backed by AI-generated data. Which ads worked? Which pages converted? Use cheap analytics tools and ask AI to interpret what the numbers mean. Replace guessing with knowing.
Stay lean until the numbers demand you grow
Matthew didn’t hire until he absolutely had to. Even then he hired his brother. More people means cost, more complexity and slower decisions. Let AI scale things for you before you scale the team.
Sam Altman predicted in 2024 that a one-person billion-dollar company “would have been unimaginable without A.I. And now it will happen.” It happened in under nine months.
You might not reach $1.8 billion. You might reach $1 million. $10 Million. You might build something that gives you freedom, income and pride. And that honestly is just as worth building.
The tools are the tools Matthew used. They’re available to you now on your phone or laptop. The gap, between you and a successful AI-powered business is not money, not education and not technical skill. It is simply the decision to start.
